Miriam Bucheli, PhD - Artist & Scientist
As both an artist and scientist, my journey has always intertwined art with scientific exploration. Growing up in Ecuador amidst lush nature inspired my early love for drawing and painting. Despite earning a PhD in molecular genetics and microbiology and establishing a career in research and academia, my passion for art never faded.
In mid-life, I sought to blend my scientific background with my artistic pursuits. Since 2015, I have commercialized my artwork through various media, including prints, coloring books, and a children's book. My education continued at Gnomon (School of Visual Effects, Games, & Animation), where I studied cutting-edge digital art techniques, and I obtained a Natural Science Illustration Certificate from the Rhode Island School of Design.
My current creations blend traditional botanical artistry with modern digital enhancements like AR. Utilizing graphite, watercolor, acrylics, and colored pencils, I combine scientific accuracy with artistic creativity, offering viewers a unique perspective on the natural world.
